Halal is a term that describes the foods permitted for consumption by Muslim, who makes up more than 20 percent of the world population. Food products imported by Muslim countries must meet health and Halal requirements. With the advancement of ingredient technology, flavor industry has become quite complex. Use of alcohol and animal derived ingredients in the development of flavors presents challenges for the producers of Halal Foods. Guidelines and requirements for Halal food productions are discusses in this article, to assist those interested in dealing with Muslim and Muslim markets.
