A synthetic polymer for the enantioselective separation of ketoprofen was prepared by molecular imprinting, in which 4-vinylpyridine used as functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate were copolymerised in the presence of (S)-ketoprofen. Racemate of ketoprofen was efficiently resolved on the molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), a selectivity factor (α) of 1.51 and (S)-ketoprofen retention factor of 9.12 were obtained. Furthermore, the polymers were able to separate ketoprofen from the structurally similar ibuprofen and naproxen.
