The ultrasonic guided wave technique for carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates has received a lot of interests in recent years due to its high efficiency. In this paper, the propagation of guided waves in a 10-layer CFRP laminate is investigated. Furthermore, the interaction between guided waves and different defects in the laminate are simulated by the finite element method (FEM). Simulation shows that the first order guided wave is sensitive to the crack and interfacial debonding.
