Leadership Styles and Educational Outcomes Review and Analysis of Some Researches

The impact of leadership styles on educational outcomes has become the main focus of the research interests in recent years. In spite of the popularity of this problem, we cannot boast with a large number of studies related to leadership styles in schools and educational outcomes. The paper aims to provide a review and analysis of some relevant researches on this topic in the light of contemporary theories of leadership: management theory, relationship theory and distributed theory. The paper is divided into several segments. In the first segment we have conducted a review and a discussion of the theoretical concepts of transformational, transactional and distributed leadership as they are presented in the educational literature. In the second segment, with regards to the results of the relevant researches, we have pointed out the impact of these leadership styles on some educational outcomes. Finally in the third segment, we will point out the agreement and disagreement of researchers in terms of certain obtained findings, and the possible limitations of these three leadership theories in the educational practice.This evidence will serve as a framework for future researches, overcoming limitations and providing best solutions for improving these leadership styles and theories for educational purposes and outcomes.
