Personal Review for Physiological Engineering to Life Engineering: 40 years from TUT, RIKEN to EIIRIS

摘要

This reviews my 40 years of scientific research in the field of physiological engineering, aiming in understanding physiological systems by means of engineering approaches. Three major topics are briefly introduced, which includes 1) the first Japanese Space medical experiment, 2) development of infrastructure for the collection of research resources in neuroscience and 3) integration of such resources for the understanding of the most complex physiological system, the brain, based on environments we have developed for the reproduction and reuse of mathematical models and analysis tools, and for the integration of sub-system models towards a large-scale brain system model. And my scientific life still continues.
