Examination of Computational Thinking Skill Levels of Secondary School Students: The Case of Near East College

This study is a descriptive research conducted with the purpose of identifying the computational thinking abilities of 103 secondary school students at the ages of 13 and 14. The research data were collected using a questionnaire form which consisted of two sections, namely personal information form and Computational Thinking Skills (CTS) scale. Statistical analysis of research data; frequency analysis, definitive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk test, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Walls test and Spearman correlation analysis were conducted. At the end of the study it was found out that more than half of the students (52.43%) favored mathematics and natural science courses, that the algorithmic thinking abilities of this group were higher, that students without siblings solved problems better and that there is statistically significant and positive correlation between the scores obtained from all dimensions in the computational thinking skills.
