Optical electrical and mechanical properties of pure and dye doped zinc guanidinium sulfate single crystal

Semi organic single crystals of pure and dye doped Zinc Guanidinium sulfate (ZGuS) was synthesized by slow solvent evaporation technique (SEST). The solubility was determined with water as solvent for both crystals. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals the crystal structure of pure and doped ZGuS, to be tetragonal with space group I42d with minor variations in the lattice parameters between the pure and doped crystals. The functional groups present in the pure and doped ZGuS and the different modes of vibrations were identified by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrum analysis. The lower cut-off wavelength was found for pure and doped crystals by UV-Vis spectral studies. The dielectric study shows that the dielectric constant decreases slowly and reaches saturation at higher frequencies in the observed region for both the crystals. Vickers's microhardness technique was used to determine the mechanical properties of the grown crystals.
