Researchgate: Is It Science Going Social Media? A Case Study of the Eastern Romanian Universities

Our paper analyses the scientific network ReasearchGate - named even the Facebook of scientists - as one of the rapid growing social network for researchers: tools, applications, policies to optimize online collaboration in science, proponents and critics etc. in order to establish its role in research dissemination, and, by extrapolation the future trends in this area. A case study to determine the actual influence of ResearchGate through the universities from the eastern part of Romania is described and its results analyzed.
