In this work, we are particularly interested in studying the effect of addition of grape seed extract (GSE) on the phase behavior of the binary carbon dioxide (CO_2) + dichloromethane system. Phase equilibrium experiments (cloud points) were carried out employing the static synthetic method in a high-pressure variable-volume view cell. Phase behavior of ternary system CO_2 + dichloromethane + GSE was investigated. The organic solutions of GSE in dichloromethane were prepared in the concentrations (C_s) of 5 and 15 kg·m~(-3). This solution was added to equilibrium cell followed by CO_2 in mass fractions from 0.30 to 0.96. Experimental data of phase equilibrium for the systems investigated were measured over the temperatures up to 343.15 K and pressures up to 10.5 MPa. Vapor-liquid equilibria occurred with visual observation of bubble and dew points. It was verified that the addition of GSE to the system consisting of CO_2 and dichloromethane did not influence the transition pressure, which allows the consideration of a binary system to select the operating points in the phase equilibrium diagram. Phase equilibrium data obtained here provide fundamental information to support the development and establishment of new technologies, such as the precipitation and encapsulation of bioactive compounds using supercritical-fluid micronization techniques, and play an important role for the scale-up of these processes.
