The present paper is dedicated to the extension of a rectangular plate finite element with physical shape functions to the free-form shape of the element. The concept of physical shape functions is presented. Exact or nearly exact transformation with the use of NURBS functions is used for description of geometry. Physical shape functions with fully coupled displacement fields are based on four nodes of a rectangle only as well as geometry can be described with more than four nodes. Thus the element is super-geometric. Numerical examples show good properties of the new finite element.
