Using the Δ_3 statistic to test for missed levels in neutron resonance data

The Δ 3 (L) statistic is studied as a possible tool to detect missing levels in the neutron resonance data of odd-A nuclei. A Δ_a(3nalysLis of neutron r)esonance data is compared with the results of a maximum likelihod method aplied to the level spacing distribution. The Δ3 (L) statistic compares favorably with the level spacing distribution as a tool to gauge the completeness of the data.
