Although it seems clear that the coat of cattle has changed far less than that of sheep since domestication, it is fortunate that the wild form of sheep is still in existence to demonstrate the extent of the change in sheep, which has been brought about mainly through the selective breeding by man towards different kinds of fleeces suitable for textiles.
