Tight coupling between multi body dynamics vehicle models and FE (finite elements) models is a good way to increase accuracy of both types of models for comfort and vibration analysis. Different exchange techniques are discussed here, such as the use of modal based flexible components for multi body models. A new dynamic subsystem export methodology from MBS to FE brings a significantly better accuracy for FE modal and vibration analysis. This new exchange methodology is described, as long as 'black box' and 'white box' methods. Several linearization issues used for kinematically constrained mechanical systems and their influence on the modal analysis results are then discussed. The method results are illustrated with a MBS suspension example.
