Projective spaces of dimension larger than three are Desarguesian (Fundamental Theorem of Projective Geometry). This distinguishes the role of projective planes. In the last four decades the emphasis in this area has been on finite planes. Planes in this article are of finite cardinalities unless stated otherwise.
