STUDYING THE BALANCE BETWEEN ICT TRAINING NEEDS AND ICT TRAINING SUPPLY FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL

The importance of a good training for teachers is the key element to achieve an adequate curricular introduction of ICT. Our research has two objectives: on the one hand, describing the ICT training supply (from 1998 to 2006) which teachers (from Comunidad Valenciana) attend, on the other hand, analysing its adaptation to teachers needs. So, data come from two information sources: first, Public Training Offer, proposed by Local Administration; second, data picked up from a sample of 868 teachers through a questionnaire about ICT training needs. Results point out a low number of ICT courses in comparison with the large demand of this type of courses by teachers. Moreover, the current ICT training offer refers to initial courses about basic computing tools (word processor, database, etc.) or to technical ones with a low ICT curricular integration.
