摘要

The purpose of this paper was to examine teacher educators' motives for participating in facultyseminars and their perception of the contribution of these seminars to their personal, professional andsocial development. Data were obtained from 45 teacher educators using a questionnaire which wasbuilt for the purpose of this study. In addition, eight teacher educators were interviewed. Findingsrevealed that teacher educators participated in the faculty seminars primarily because of theirobligation as faculty members and because they wanted to become better teacher educators.Attending the seminar meetings has improved participants' research skills and moderately contributedto their personal, professional and social development. Findings imply that well-implemented facultyseminars can meet the diverse needs of teacher educators and contribute to their development andconsequently to the new teachers they train.
