Uterus and IVF Controversies: Laparoscopic Myomectomy

Laparoscopic myomectomy has selected indications in infertile patients according to the size (less than 10 cm), to the type (distorting the uterine cavity) and other conditions discussed in the article.IntroductionMyomectomy is today the gold standard treatment of symptomatic leio-myomas, specially in infertile patients. Abdominal myomectomy remains the most frequent procedure to treat leiomyomas because many patients still consult the surgeon late in the evolution of the symptoms, with big leiomyomas (1). The indications for operative laparoscopy have expanded greatly over the past decades as its many advantages over laparotomy have been recognized2.
