The Problem of Speed Measurements in the Slip-Slide Control for Electric Railway Traction

The phenomena of slip or slide, more or less present in railway traction, have negative economical and technical effects. The key element of the anti-slip or anti-slide systems is the accuracy of the wheels and/or locomotive-body speed measurement. The paper analyzes some methods known in the literature and analysis the effect of speed measurement errors on the anti-slip system performances.
