An Empirical Study of Context Knowledge in Engineering Design Practice

Knowledge gathering and information retrieval is known as a challenging field of research, especially in product design. This research is aimed to develop a method and tool to support designers to gather and retrieve information during conceptual product design. As part of the research, the existence and the role of context in engineering design practices were studied. The design process and the context knowledge appeared to be representable in a formal framework.
