The statistical link path analysis method is improved to consider both the channel ISI and the supply voltage fluctuations. In an I/O link using a linear buffer, the pull-up/down transition with the supply and ground voltage fluctuation can be separately analyzed as step pulse responses and the responses due to alternate supply and ground fluctuations. The PDFs of output fluctuations due to the supply fluctuations are statistically calculated, and effectively combined with the ISI PDF obtained from step pulse responses. The improved statistical analysis method considering both the channel ISI and the supply fluctuations would be very useful for fast and accurate estimation of BER.
