Enhancing the Information Technology Knowledge and Skills of Indiana High School Teachers and Their Students

Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) exists in response to the shortage of information technology workers in the US. Our national ability to meet this demand is threatened by a lack of sufficient exposure to informationtechnology (IT) at the high school level. In order for students to acquire skills and awareness, teachers must be trained in skills and also career options, and counselors and parents must also be included in the career awareness component. This comprehensive project is focused on enhancing the information technology knowledge and skills of Indiana high school teachers and their students in the biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science, and technology education disciplines. More specifically, this project focuses on information technology knowledge and skills in two areas critical to the Indiana economy: advanced manufacturing and biotechnology.
