Transitioning to e-Learning: A Case Study

摘要

An early approach to providing distance learning was to take what is taught in the campus classroom, and offer it to students remote from campus, including lifelong learners. However, as technologies became more sophisticated, and students more accustomed to using online tools, their instructional needs were not being met with this approach. Also, students in lifelong learning programs often demand alternative formats and even an altered organization of content to better suit their needs and desire for zerotime learning. Specifically, they demand "student-centered learning" that is "justin- time, just-for-me, and just-enough." Such learning mandates instruction that is developed more specifically for the e-learning format and requires a development process that is more involved than typical course development. This process produces pedagogically sound e-learning programs that also have potential for use in academic curriculum.
