Resulearchers in the University of Wisconsin-Madision's Powertrain Control Research laboratory have developed a detailed modular dynamic engine model for a modern direct injection diesel engine system. This model which is developed using MATLAB/Simulink software, represents the dynamic cylinder-by-cylinder behavior of a compression ignition (CI) engine with a variable geomery turbocharger (VGT), cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), feedgas emission models, and an after-treamtnet system. The model structure represents the most modern diesel engine configuration for the in personal transportation.
