In recent years,assembling molecules into highly ordered architectures has received considerable attention.Characterization of molecular assemblies is currently a subject of intense interest.The preparation and characterization of self-assembled monolayers (SAM) is being widely studied as a means of preparing well defined modified interfaces.Many interesting applications of these systems have been investigated including adhesion,lubrication,biological membrane models,chemical sensors and electron-transfer pathways studies.Despite the tremendous interest in applications using SAMs,the past decade has witnessed much attention to the preparation and characterization of the self-assembled monolayers of molecules bearing only functional groups such as thiols,disulfides,and silane on various metal electrode surfaces.
