The effect of nitrogen sources on alpha-amylase production in S.cerevisiae strain 20B-12 harboring recombinant plasmid pNA3 was studied in shake flask culture. The results indicate that the production of gene product was performed by feeding natural nitrogen source during glucose is running out in the medium, the yeast extract is the most beneficial to alpha-amylase production compared to other nitrogen sources. The fed-batch cultivation carried out the high level expression of gene product.
