Considering the increase of the use of mobile devices by students in higher education, as well as theperspective of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto came to develop an Institutional platform for mobilelearning, this article seeks to understand the potential receptivity and predisposition of the studentsand teachers to the use of mobile learning.In this context, a study was carried out by Industrial Studies and Management School (ESEIG), at thePolytechnic Institute of Porto, where we tried to identify the main preferences, expectations andmotivations of students and teachers of ESEIG, and looking to realize what functionalities andservices are considered most relevant for the academic community, with regard to mobile learning,given this recent paradigm of teaching and learning.To carry out this study, a questionnaire was prepared to the academic community of ESEIG, betweenapril and June of 2014. The data collected through the questionnaire were treated such a way as toenhance its analysis and discussion, in order to answer the issues above identified as well as definethe typical ESEIG user mobile learning profile (students and teachers').
