In 1983 it was diagnosed the first case of AIDS in children, according to the Ministry of Health (Brazil) ,and the reported cases reveal that over 80% of cases of infected children is attributed to verticaltransmission -transmission of HIV from mother to baby during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.Currently, we have the first generation of children and young adolescents from birth, HIV / AIDS andall the repercussions that this epidemic brings to family life and society as constantly being in thehospital, the need administer medications, the clinical and laboratory examinations, among others.The Statute of the Child and Adolescent ensures that no child or adolescent shall be subject to anyform of negligence, discrimination, exploitation, violence, cruelty and oppression, and any attempt byact or omission of their fundamental rights will be punished according to the law, Article 5. Currentlythere is still a lot of prejudice and discrimination by society with the holders of the Acquired ImmuneDeficiency Syndrome, which include infected children.In our society, a child with HIV is not just a child with a chronic illness for which there is still noestablished cure, he is a child-aidética, stigmatized, segregated and excluded from manyopportunities: Opportunities to belong to the school, socialization space of coexistence, whereprejudice generated by ignorance is still perceived as a threat. Many of the infected children knowtheir diagnosis, according War and Seidl (2009) researches have pointed out the advantages ofdisclosure of diagnosis to children and adolescents with HIV / AIDS, but the caregivers / familymembers have postponed this decision regardless of the recommendations of the health teamsChildhood is a time of extreme importance in the formation of the human being. During this period thechild needs favorable conditions for its growth and development. The school life enables your childpsychic and cognitive development beyond the contact with other children, establishing a socialinteraction and makes it become a normal person in society.This paper aims to initially raise diagnostic data about the school life of children infected by HIV,where they are vulnerable to several types of discrimination and prejudice. The intention of these datahave a diagnosis in Brazil and start a discussion about the importance of education and schoolexperience in the lives of children with "AIDS", who need specialized attention.Brazil has public policies that ensure this right for children and adolescents unable to attend school ina conventional way, this educational assistance is accomplished through classes hospital wherespecialized professionals working for children and adolescents have access to education.
