Detection of influenza A virus nucleoprotein antibody (IgM, IgA, IgG) in serum and oral fluid specimens

Previously, a commercial blocking ELISA (MultiS-Screen~R Antibody Test Kit, IDEXX Laboratories, Inc.) designed to detect anti-influenza A virus (IAV) nucleoprotein (NP) antibodies in avian serum was shown to effectively detect anti-NP antibodies in swine serum and oral fluid specimens.1,2 As the next step in this research, we developed indirect, antibody isotype-specific NP ELISAs to study the kinetics of the antibody (IgM, IgA, and IgG) responses against IAV infection in serum and oral fluid specimens.
