The whole cell lysate mixture was very complicated and can be better resolved through offline fractionation such as reverse phase alkaline pH separation. Upregulation of several proteins point to elevated inflammatory and oxidative stress response in diabetic samples relative to their diuretic counterparts. Pathway analysis pointed to several targets (such as NF-(kappa)B, TNF(alpha), TGF(beta), etc.) that may show changed expression and can be probed by western or targeted mass spec analysis.
