TO TREAT OR NOT TO TREAT CITRUS WASTEWATER: WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?

From being just one more utility, wastewater treatment has become a potential source of energy, water reuse, by product recovery, regulatory compliance and good corporate citizenship. From conventional solids separation, pH adjustment and aerobic treatment, to anaerobic digestion with energy recovery to the use of membranes for final purification, the spectrum of wastewater treatment solutions has become a very interesting topic with numerous alternatives. This paper discusses several of the main treatment alternatives.
