LEVEL OF PATHOGENICITY FOR PIGS OF HIGHLY VIRULENT PRRS VIRUS OF EUROPEAN GENOTYPE DEPENDING ON AN INOCULATION DOSE

According to literature data PRRS vims (PRRSV) at a dose of 2-6 ml and at a titre of 2.4-6.0 log TCID5o is usually used for experimental inoculation. Yoon et al. (4) demonstrated that in some cases a dose of 10 fluorescent foci units of virus per milliliter can be sufficient for inoculation of pigs by PRRSV. Hermann et al. (2) showed that a 50% infectious dose (ID50) for oral and intranasal inoculation by PRRSV reached 1053 TCID50 and 1040 TCID50, correspondingly. This research was aimed at studyingthe level of pathogenicity for pigs of highly virulent PRRSV isolate of European genotype depending on an inoculation dose.
