INTERNATIONAL GAS UNION WORLD LNG REPORT: INITIAL PERSPECTIVES FOR 2016

The LNG industry has gone through phenomenal growth and several evolutions in the last 10 years. The global financial and economic crises have presented new challenges to the business, but this industry is a resilient one, having survived these types of global events. The International Gas Union (IGU) LNG Committee (formerly Programme Committee D - PGC D) has reported LNG industry developments across the value chain since 2010 through its "World LNG Report." PGC D brings together international experts from all stages of the value chain and uniquely positioned international and industry organizations, including the International Group of Liquefied Natural Gas Importers (GIIGNL), for developing its annual review of and perspectives on the worldwide LNG industry. This paper presents background information on the development of the World LNG Report and its emphasis on solid industry data and on key perspectives on international LNG industry developments entering into the first quarter of 2016. Since this paper presents discussion of issues up to the first quarter of 2016, emphasis is placed upon important questions facing the worldwide industry that will be addressed in the 2016 edition of the report and through the end of the quarter. The objective of the presentation of this report at the LNG 18 Conference, then, is to address these questions based on the most recent data on the industry.
