The Potential of Functional Annotation of Mass Spectrometry Tools

Entire data analysis workflows can be defined in EDAM terms. Annotations do not have to be complete to be useful. Annotating existing annotations, such as the ms-utils.org wiki, with EDAM terms elevates these to the biotoolsXSD standard, supporting the exposure in the bio.tools registry and bringing the utilities to a broader audience. Successful application of semantically aware workflow management systems depend on formal, semantic, annotation of the software tools/components.
