摘要

Metabolomics analysis using XCMS and METLIN software enabled identification of ions that were different in rat urines due to OVX, both endogenous steroids and prostaglandins and a bacterial metabolite of a lignan. However, many of the other metabolites that were significantly changed could not be identifed in the METLIN database. Targeted analysis by LC-MRM MS of the same urines indicated that GSE polyphenols are glucuronidated to a greater extent in OVX vs sham-OVX. Since glucuronidation is IN GENERAL a mechanism by which cells excrete xenobiotics, these results imply that the menopausal condition may involve a requirement for higher doses of the same dietary supplements such as GSE for the same bioactivity.
