Gas Phase Discrimination of Phosphatidylcholines and Phosphatidylethanolamines using Charge-Inversion Ion/Ion Reactions

Gas phase separation via differential reactivities of PDPA with PEs and PCs allows for a fast separation of lipid classes without prior derivatization. The charge inversion capabilities of this ion/ion chemistry also provides information on the fatty acid composition of each class yielding additional information of the isomers found. Identification of the stereochemistry, however, requires further analysis.
