摘要

The functions of milk oligosaccharides in mammals are primarily protective rather than nutritional. They may act as receptor analogues to inhibit bacterial adhesion to the epithelial cells. They can serve as prebiotics, promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms. To provide a better understanding of the biological functions of human milk oligosaccharides, a more controlled model is necessary. Other primates such as apes and monkeys can provide a better model because conditions such as stage of lactation, diet and age can be controlled. These primates will also allow us to investigate the evolutionary similarities and differences to possibly understand more about the origin of humans. Here, we were able to profile oligosaccharides of several primates species were analyzed using MALDI-FTICR-MS and nanoESI-FT-ICR-MS. Oligosaccharides were identified based on exact mass measurements and tandem mass spectrometry.
