In the framework of Culture-MERIS project, the European Space Agency (ESA) initiated a Near-Real- Time (NRT) service, for the provision of weekly averaged land surface reflectance composites of MERIS FR 300 m in the RGB and NIR bands [1]. Given the recent interruption of ENVISAT services, ESA is now concentrating on backlog processing of the complete 10-year archive to Culture-MERIS level 3 products. This should produce a robust multi-year benchmark dataset for land applications. The use of the Accurate MERIS Ortho-Rectified Geo-location Operational Software (AMORGOS) tool, ensures high relative and absolute geolocation accuracy [2], which is required for multi-temporal remote sensing studies. Recent analysis on the Culture-MERIS products of 2011, show very good agreement with other similar land surface reflectance datasets [3].
