摘要

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is now recognized as one of the most common causes of liver disease in developed countries. NAFLD is a clinico-pathological syndrome with a wide spectrum of liver damage ranging from simple, uncomplicated steatosis to steatohepatitis. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) represents a subset of NAFLD and is characterized by the presence of steatosis along with inflammatory activity with or without fibrosis, indicating the possibility of progressive liver disease.
