Enforced by laws and regulations, the documentation of product streams in breweries is getting important. The results of a related study have been summarised as lean definitions for IT-based tracking and tracing. Process control systems are available for batch tracking and tracing. Warehouse management systems with pallet tracking are being developed by the industry. The change from a pressure tank batch to shipping units can be recognised with a new concept for automatic monitoring. A comprehensive system will enable breweries not only to fulfil regulations and inspect the quality of their beer, but to produce controlled quality and gain highest consumer image.
