CANADIAN MOBILE ROBOTICS: THE EXOMARS MISSION AND BEYOND

The international space community is defining future planetary missions, and mobile robotics -manned and unmanned rovers, for example - will play an important role in these missions In support of mobile robotics development, MDA has been conducting a number of internal R&D projects, several of which will be discussed in this paper. This work includes the development of a planetary rover chassis simulation tool, development and mobility testing of a full-scale rover chassis prototype, and maturity of a vision-based localization and terrain modelling system for autonomous navigation.
