A Study on Evaluation of Resident Preference of General Waste Treatment Facility by Conjoint Analysis

The best municipal solid waste management system for the region is considered. Local resident's preference to the general waste treatment facility was analyzed by two questionnaires. The first questionnaire is a pre-questionnaire. The second questionnaire was made based on the result of the first investigation. It is judged from the first investigation that the resident values the processing facilities three attributes of the presence of the distance from home, the presence of the water source, and reuse of residual heat. And it aimed at the calculation of the marginal willingness to pay (MWTP). When the municipal waste processing system considering the region's characteristics was constructed, the resident's preference could be evaluated by willingness to pay. Estimation results of a conditional logit model suggest that WTP is mainly affected by reuse of residual heat. In addition, residents evaluate more positively the distance from incineration facilities.
