Overcoming Barriers to Ultra Low Emissions

摘要

This paper describes the impact of pollutant emissions from the aircraft on the environment and human health. The technology options to reduce such pollutants are explained and the challenges in terms of cost, complexity, and safety for each option are discussed. The programs that are in place at Pratt & Whitney to assess some of the technology options are described. The success achieved so far in terms of pollutant reduction is illustrated and remaining challenges are discussed.
