A theoretical model has been developed to study the effects of buoyancy on the burning of two tandem droplets, in the presence of both upward and downward airflows. The droplets are of equal diameter (d=6mm) and the results are obtained for two different separation distances (s/d = 2 and 3). Methanol is used as the fuel. An eight-noded finite element grid has been employed to solve the flow and transport equations of the gas phase. The predicted results include: local mass flux, flame geometry and temperature. The model has been validated by comparing the predicted results with experimental data obtained using the porous sphere technique.
