A novel approach for enhancing signal-to-noise (S/N) levels in LED-based fluorimetry for microfluidic capillary electrophoresis systems is developed using a synchronized dual-wavelength modulation method, employing a blue LED as excitation source, and a red LED for background-noise compensation. 4-fold improvement in S/N ratio was achieved by dual wavelength modulation, as compared with single wavelength modulation.
