Nanostructured T1O2 thin films characterized by an ordered array of nano-pillars, -tubes, -coils, sponges, -foams, or -particles could be obtained by anodic oxidation of titanium foils, depending on the conditions of preparation, The thickness of the film ranges from 200 to 900 nm and the diameter of the nanostructures, vertically aligned with respect to the foil plane, ranges from 30 to 100 nm These materials, characterized by FESEM, TEM and other techniques, show interesting characteristics as photoactive materials and for the design of catalysts with tailored nanoarchitecture.
