Is there a preferred profile for students entering onto a holistic product design course?

In recent years the variety of qualifications that students use to access higher education has increased significantly. However, with a holistic based product design course there is a need for potential students to have had a previous grounding in both the arts and mathematics. This helps to ensure progress successfully through the degree course with a balanced understanding. By analysing the relationship between student cohort entry qualifications, this paper identifies the correlation between previous education experience and the ability to pass the first year of the degree course. This paper will analyse and identify successful and unsuccessful student profiles based on three years of student intake, as well as generate preferred student profiles. The data is derived from the entry details of a BA/B.Sc. Product Design Course.
