EFFECT OF OOCYTES SELECTION ON IN VITRO FERTILIZATION OF PIG EMBRYOS

The requirement for follicle cells (cumulus and granulosa cells) in the in vitro maturation of pig oocytes has been previously reported. The establishment of a proper selection of the oocytes that will be used in embryo production technology is essential. The present study was carried out to evaluate the effect of the morphology of the cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) on nuclear maturation (metaphase II), penetration, monospermy, male pronuclear formation (MPF), number of spermatozoa penetrating eachoocyte (sperm/oocyte), cleavage and embryo development (morula), following in vitro fertilization.
