Difference from other gear transmissions, the phenomenon of multi-tooth contact is present in planetary gearing with small tooth number difference. On the basis of analyses of geometry, tooth deformation and manufacturing errors, the mathematical model which describes the state of multi-tooth contacts and the load distribution characteristics have been developed. The number of teeth is simultaneous contact and load distribution characteristics of tooth with the load carried by the most heavily loaded tooth can be calculated by means of this model. At last the theoretical results have been verified by meet an emergency experiment. The study provide a foundation for analysis of tooth stress and the choice of design parameters in planetary gearing with small tooth number difference, and also conductive to the further research on efficiency, lubrication and transmission accuracy in the same gearing.
