We investigated how Heart rate variability (HRV) analysis can predict the efficacy of diode laser irradiation around stellate ganglion (SGL).After control data were obtained, we recorded ECG during SGL (1000mW, 10 min). R-R interval of ECG was used for HRV analysis by using fast Fourier transformation, and the power spectral analysis was made. The spectral component was divided into LF, HF and TP. The efficacy of SGL was subjectively assessed. Sensitivity and specificity of all HRV parameters were computed.TP significantly decreased during SGL in effective group, while increased in non-effective group. TP indicated the highest predictability. We concluded that HRV analysis may predict the efficacy of SGL.
