A method for assessing the efficacy of correcting the functional state based on the analysis of the heart rhythm variability and the respiratory cycle duration comprises the synchronous record of cardio- and pneumogram, the calculation of the mode in histogram of the respiratory cycle duration, and the graphical superposition of the spectrogram of high-frequency component of the heart rhythm. The coefficient of cross-correlation of pneumo- and cardiosignals is calculated. The respiration rhythm is selected wherein the rate and the duration of the expiration and inspiration phases correspond to the frequency of localization of maximal peak of cardiac rhythm output within the low-frequency range. Daily 5-minute sessions of the controlled breathing are performed for 10 days at the rate selected individually. The repeated synchronous record of cardio- and pneumogram is performed, then the coefficient of cross-correlation is calculated. The increased coefficient suggests the improved synchronization between respiratory and cardiac rhythms and the improvement of the functional state of the body.
